Childcare

As an employer you will be committed to developing your greatest asset- your workforce. In the childcare sector, this is becoming more important than ever before. The minimum qualification staff must now have is an NVQ Level 2.

The award is aimed at nursery assistants, creche workers and special educational needs assistants working in a supporting role and caters for those working with children aged from 0-16 years. It will help to build the necessary skills and attitude to ensure that young children receive the highest standards of care.

Childcare Apprenticeships have been designed by employers to meet the needs of the industry, and have been developed to help create the managers of the future.

What does an Apprenticeship include?

A Childcare Apprenticeship includes:

  • An NVQ in Children’s Care Learning and Development at Level 2
  • Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number at Level 1

Technical Certificates focus on the knowledge and understanding that underpins the NVQ, and are provided through a programme of off-the-job training.

  • An NVQ in Children’s Care Learning and Development at Level 3
