As an employer you will be committed to developing your greatest asset – your workforce. Developing their talents will help to secure the future skill needs of your business.
The efficient running of your business can depend heavily on having a workforce with up-to-date technical skills, but the basic skills needed to use hand tools or operate machine tools, must today be enhanced by a financial awareness and managerial skills.
A Technology Apprenticeship will help build the right skills, as Apprenticeships have been designed by employers to meet the needs of the industry, and have been developed to help create the managers of the future.
What does an Apprenticeship include?
A Technology Apprenticeship includes:
- An NVQ at Level 2 in an engineering related subject
- Key Skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology at Level 1
- Key Skills in Working with Others and Improve own Learning at Level 2
- An Engineering Technical Certificate.
Technical Certificates focus on the knowledge and understanding that underpins the NVQ, and are provided through a programme of off-the-job training. Apprentices will also learn about Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR).
An Advanced Apprenticeship includes:
- An NVQ at Level 3 in an engineering related subject
- All five Key Skills at Level 2
- An Advanced Engineering Technical Certificate
You have a key role in developing your Apprentice’s learning plan. We work with you to ensure that the Apprenticeship meets the needs of your business. The exact mix of NVQ units will depend upon the engineering sector in which you operate.
Mandatory units of the NVQ could include:
- Working safely in an engineering environment
- Using and communicating technical information
- Working with other people on engineering activities
In addition you will select from a wide range of optional units in order to tailor the Apprenticeship to the requirements of your company.
