Being a nursery assistant amongst a team of highly qualified child care professionals, all of whom had completed their level 2 and 3 certificates in CYPW (Children’s and Young People’s Workforce), motivated Agata to improve herself further. She wanted a qualification that was flexible enough to fit into her existing schedule but would also help her reach her goal of improving future career prospects. With a Paragon Skills level 2 apprenticeship in Childcare, Agata was able to continue working for her employer whilst learning new skills and even forging stronger working relationships within her setting.
“If I can do it I may inspire [my colleagues] to do a qualification and gain new knowledge too. I feel I am of value to my colleagues and it has built positive working relationships in my setting as I have built new relationships due to more experienced staff supporting me during the qualification.”
DOLPHIN DAY CARE
Having left academics behind her long ago, Agata’s first challenge was getting back into studying – particularly with regard to English and maths. As a non-native English speaker, Agata’s next hurdle was overcoming the language barrier that would be critical to her passing the reading and ICT based elements of her assessments. Thankfully she had the complete support of her Paragon Skills tutors, who went the extra mile to ensure she was prepared for her final assessments. In addition, Agata had the full backing of her manager, who was a recent recipient of the Paragon Skills ‘Employer of the Month’ award. Agata has now successfully completed her level 2 certificate and through hard work and dedication was able to overcome the challenges – as a result she now feels like a more valuable member of the team. She hopes to inspire future colleagues to take on an Apprenticeship to feel the same pride, empowerment and renewed job satisfaction that she has done.
