Health problems can bring a person’s life to a complete standstill and for Scarlett Erin, exactly that happened when she fell ill whilst studying at school. Her illness took her out of academics for over three years and left her lacking formal qualifications and the confidence she needed to enter the job market. Once she had fully recovered from her illness Scarlett decided she was ready to take back control of her life but going back to school was not an option. She wanted a way to move forward and gain practical skills without needing formal qualifications to get there.
An Apprenticeship offered Scarlett the opportunity to earn a recognised qualification whilst learning technical skills that she never would have been exposed to in a school environment. She joined Paragon Skills to complete her Level 2 Childcare qualification and became an Apprentice at a local nursery. Through-out her Apprenticeship Scarlett received incredible support from her Paragon Skills tutor, who helped drastically improve her social skills and confidence.
“I have learnt so much from this apprenticeship. I have learnt so many things from the physical work- life skills, skills specific to child care, social skills and also gained confidence through submitting work to my amazing tutor and getting lots of praise back!”
