Paragon Skills launch a dedicated Accountancy Academy at their Bournemouth campus
We’ve been involved with the delivery of Accounts Apprenticeships for many years, but over recent years have identified an increase in demand for accountancy training in certain areas. As Bournemouth and surrounding areas expand in terms of its commercial development, a skills shortage has been highlighted, especially in the field of accountancy.
For this reason, we are delighted to announce the launch of our Accountancy Academy at our Bournemouth campus in Ashley Road in September 2018. We will initially be delivering the level 3 AAT Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard which is a highly respected national qualification in the financial sector.
This is a wonderful opportunity for local employers to upskill their current employees and ensure that they have trained personnel performing highly with the right skills, and for schools, college leavers, or people wishing to change careers to gain a nationally recognised qualification through an accounts Apprenticeship.
Who are the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)?
The AAT are the UK’s leading professional accountancy body and the world’s leading professional body for accounting technicians. Awarding internationally recognised skills-based qualifications in accounting and finance. They work across the globe with around 130,000 members in more than 100 countries. Their members are represented at every level of the finance and accounting world, including students, people already working in accountancy and self-employed business owners.
Advantages of taking an accountancy qualifications
- A nationally and internationally recognised qualification
- A pathway for career development, training and progression
- Being in demand by employers in both the public and private sector, with many employers considering AAT qualifications as essential
- Develop greater confidence in your own skills and abilities
- Access to, and the support of, a professional body within the accountancy sector (AAT)
Practical, real-world qualifications that employers want
AAT accounting qualifications are universally respected and internationally recognised. Organisations such as Sainsbury’s, P&G, Morgan Stanley, the Ministry of Defence and many more continue to hire AAT qualified members for their knowledge, skills, diligence and enthusiasm because AAT represents the highest standards of professionalism.
In a recent study by the AAT it was found that strong communication skills, punctuality and fitting into a company’s culture are some of the top things employers look for when considering a new hire. And more employers look for practical experience, preferably gained from an Apprenticeship, rather than a university degree specifically relevant to the role.
In the survey, 49% of the 1000 employers said they would prefer to see experience from a relevant Apprenticeship or previous position on a candidate’s CV, compared to only 24% who would prefer to see a relevant degree qualification.
Of those who said they prioritise candidates who have relevant experience from an Apprenticeship or previous job, 71% said they prefer it because it shows that candidates have demonstrated their skills in a practical setting, and 62% said it indicates they have a better understanding of the world of work.
In short, training with Paragon Skills towards an AAT qualification is a route to some of the most in-demand skills in the world and provides you with a professional status you can be proud of.
Trailblazer apprenticeships can help provide employers access to the evolving talent they need to develop and grow. With the future of accountancy at the very heart of AAT’s professional development programmes we’re proud to be in a position to help meet this demand, whilst facilitating and encouraging social mobility.
