understanding the impact of acquired brain injury
supporting individuals following stroke
recognising physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioural changes
helping individuals develop strategies to manage behaviour
supporting meaningful activity and independence
using active support approaches to promote recovery, wellbeing and daily living skills
It strengthens confidence in complex care while reinforcing leadership, accountability and best practice.

what skills will you gain through the brain injury pathway?
Through this pathway, learners develop specialist practical and leadership skills linked to brain injury care and adult support.
You will gain skills in:
understanding acquired brain injury and its impact on individuals
supporting people with stroke care and recovery needs
using person centred approaches to manage behaviour safely and positively
helping individuals develop coping strategies and routines
supporting meaningful activity, participation and independence
recognising changes in wellbeing, communication and behaviour
promoting dignity, choice and inclusion in daily care
leading consistent, high quality support within adult care teams
These skills support progression into senior, lead or specialist care roles focused on neurological care, rehabilitation and complex support.
how does brain injury training support employers in care settings?
Employers benefit from practitioners who can provide confident, informed and person centred support for individuals with complex neurological needs.
This pathway helps employers to:
strengthen specialist brain injury and stroke care knowledge
improve quality of support for individuals with complex needs
promote independence, meaningful activity and positive outcomes
support safer, more consistent approaches to behaviour management
develop confident practitioners who can model best practice
build capability within teams supporting recovery, wellbeing and daily living
