Hair Professional (Barbering) – Level 2 apprenticeship

Who is this apprenticeship suitable for?

The Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals – Barbering is a newly created qualification based on employer needs and has been designed by employers for learners wishing to gain an apprenticeship within the Hair Professional arena.

This is a qualification designed for learners who are at least 16 years old and who wish to develop the skills and knowledge needed to begin to work as a Barber. They may have previously completed a Level 1 qualification in the relevant subject area. Learners wishing to complete these qualifications will be doing so as an employed apprentice, in a real work environment.

Professional barbering level 2

What will you learn on the apprenticeship?

We will train you in professional barbering skills as well as help you better understand current policies and processes affecting the barbering industry. You will learn about professionalism and values, such as industry codes of practice and ethics, as well as industry standards of behaviour such as meeting and greeting clients, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, booking appointments, taking payments and providing advice and recommendations on products in the salon.

You’ll be shown how to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, cut facial hair into shape, and provide grooming services specifically for men.

By the end of your apprenticeship, you can gain employment in a salon as a Barber carrying out day-to-day tasks such as:

  • customer service
  • shampooing hair
  • cutting hair
  • preparing for shaving services
  • cutting facial hair
