Who is this apprenticeship suitable for?

A hospitality team member can work in a range of establishments, for example, bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. The role is very varied and although hospitality team members tend to specialise in an area, they have to be adaptable and ready to support team members across the business, for example during busy periods.  Specialist areas in hospitality include food and beverage service, serving alcoholic beverages, barista, food preparation, housekeeping, concierge and guest services, reception, reservations and conference and banqueting.

This industry is crucial to the economy and gives people around the world ways to spend and enjoy their leisure time.

Typical roles that this apprenticeship will support are Waiter/Waitress, Barista, Receptionist, Housekeeper/Room Attendant, Hospitality Service Assistant, Food & Beverage Assistant & Food Production.

What will you learn on the apprenticeship?

The Hospitality Team Member apprenticeship will teach you to how to excel in this field, anticipate customer needs, and how to adapt products and services to meet customer needs. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will be able to ensure you demonstrate excellent communication skills, and consistently exceed customers’ expectations to deliver a great guest experience.

You will learn how to use appropriate opportunities and upsell and promote additional products and services, at the same time as actively seeking to ‘wow’ customers in line with the business and brand standard. You will also learn how to pay attention to detail and have high standards for cleanliness and presentation.
