MOT Courses

Course: Level 2 Pre-Vehicle Testing Assessment

At this level you will learn:

  • Knowledge of pre-vehicle testing
  • Skills in pre-vehicle testing
    Length of course: 1 or 2 days, depending on experience
    Cost: £450 +VAT

Course: Level 3 MOT Manager*

At this level you will learn how to:

  • Manage the legislative and compliance requirements of a Vehicle Test centre
  • Deal with customer service problems within a test centre
  • Develop and supervise staff within a test centre
  • Understand test centre quality systems and quality audits
    Length of course: 2 days
    Cost: £499 +VAT

Course: Level 2 Award in MOT Testing*

At this level you will learn:

  • Safe working practices in the vehicle test centre
  • How to manage good working relationships within the vehicle test centre
  • How to manage own professional development as an MOT Tester
  • How to carry out pre-test checks for a statutory periodic roadworthiness test
  • How to carry out a statutory periodic roadworthiness test
    Length of course: 4 days, normally Monday – Thursday
    Cost: £700 +VAT (can be combined with Pre-Vehicle for £1000 +VAT)

*To be eligible to undertake these qualifications, you must have a current full UK driving licence for class 4&7 vehicles and no unspent convictions, as well as 4 years full time employment in the service and repair of class 4&7 vehicles and an appropriate qualification, i.e. a L3 in LV, HGV, ATA Inspection or ATA Diagnostic.

Hybrid / Electric vehicle maintenance

For technicians working on high voltage diagnostics and repairs on Hybrid vehicles.

Course: Level 2 Hybrid / Vehicle Maintenance

At this level you will learn:

  • How to shut down a vehicle safely
  • Hybrid system components and operation
  • How to work safely on Hybrid and related vehicle systems
  • How to work safely around electric vehicles

Length of course: 2 days
Cost: £395 +VAT

Course: Level 3 Hybrid / Vehicle Maintenance

At this level you will learn:

  • How to remove and replace high voltage components
  • How to take safety precautions when working on Hybrid vehicle systems
  • How to use appropriate tools and equipment to carry out hybrid vehicle repairs safely
  • How to record information and make suitable recommendations

Length of course: 3 days
Cost: £595 +VAT


For technicians working on mobile air conditioning systems containing F-Gas refrigerants who want to gain a licence to handle mobile refrigerants.

Course: Level 3 Award in Basic Mobile Air Conditioning

At this level you will learn:

  • Operation of MAC systems containing F-Gas refrigerants
  • Environmental impact of F-Gas refrigerants
  • Environmental regulations and basic mobile air conditioning principles
  • Refrigerant recovery
  • Handling refrigerants

IRTEC training

IRTEC is an independent and renewable accreditation scheme that assesses the competence of technicians working in the commercial vehicle, trailer and PSV industries**.

Course: IRTEC Accreditation

This accreditation is specially designed for the HGV and PSV technicians. Technicians who complete the IRTEC assessments are tested on both theoretical and practical skills, once completed an IRTEC Licence is awarded and is valid for 5 years after which re-accreditation is required.
Length of course: 2 days
Cost: £450 +VAT

**To be eligible to undertake this qualification the following must apply:

  • A Large Commercial Vehicle/ Light Commercial Vehicle/ Bus & Coach candidate must have a minimum level of relevant industry experience.
  • Technicians can count experience in another sub-sector as relevant such as LCV, LCOMV, or B&C in an appropriate role as follows:
  • Inspection Technician 3 years min.


  • Hold a relevant industry nationally recognised competence qualification (SVQ, NVQ, VCQ) as follows as well as a minimum of 1 years post qualification experience in an appropriate role.
  • Inspection Technician Level 3.
