I believe you should always have education for the career you’re in, it gives you the edge and the opportunity to progress. An apprenticeship is much more flexible than other routes, and my tutor was incredibly understanding and accommodating, always available to offer guidance and answer any questions I had.
Adil’s thoughts on apprenticeships
For Adil, apprenticeships offer a valuable and accessible route into professional development. Having experienced both school and university earlier in life, he believes strongly in the importance of education for any chosen career. What stood out to him about Paragon Skills’ apprenticeship model was its flexibility; the ability to learn while working, fitting study around a demanding schedule of home visits and day‑to‑day responsibilities in his role as a Care Worker.
Adil valued the flexibility of the apprenticeship route, which allowed him to study during quieter moments in his day and balance learning with his duties in the community. He found the content highly relevant and interesting; particularly modules on safeguarding, oral hygiene, dignity and person‑centred care, all essential in ensuring safe and compassionate support in people’s homes.
One of the most impactful parts of Adil’s apprenticeship was the level of support he received from both Paragon Skills and Cera Care. His personal tutor, Melissa, played a central role; she understood his weaknesses and helped him strengthen those areas, filling gaps in his knowledge with patience and clarity. Melissa tailored learning to his needs, stayed consistently available by phone or email, and ensured he always felt supported and reassured throughout his programme. Paragon Skills’ flexible, learner‑centred approach, combined with Cera Care’s encouragement and understanding of his day‑to‑day responsibilities, gave Adil the confidence and practical support he needed to balance work and study successfully.
The apprenticeship also gave Adil a deeper understanding of the legal and ethical responsibilities within care, helping him feel more confident and better equipped to support service users with professionalism and empathy.
Having passed his Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 apprenticeship, Adil is already planning his next steps. With previous management experience and a strong desire to progress, he has applied for the Level 4 qualification and hopes to move into more senior roles within Cera Care in the future, as he continues to grow in his career.
