Ragamuffin Day Nursery’s commitment to apprenticeships
Ragamuffins understand the value of apprenticeships; the nursery believes that apprentices represent the future of childcare, which is why they are focused on recruiting and retaining their staff through apprenticeship programmes. Ragamuffins currently have over 20 apprentices completing different levels – as a company, they support these learners by providing off the jo training, understanding the tasks they have been set and putting this into practice.
Ragamuffins Day Nursery embrace the whole learning journey from start to finish, including functional skills, off the job training and have set out processes within their supervision process to accompany and assist Paragon Skills and their learners. The company understand that every learners journey is different and they adapt to ensure each learners needs are met, always making time for staff to learn and develop.
Delivering a bespoke apprenticeship solution
Ragamuffins Day Nursery fully supports apprenticeships through their training initiatives. Engaging committed individuals throughout our organisation and collaborate closely with training providers and tutors to offer comprehensive support. They work with every member of staff as an individual and support them directly to ensure their individual needs are met.
Ragamuffins joined with Paragon Skills in January 2023 to provide bespoke apprenticeship training to their staff. The Paragon Skills tutor based with the company is organised and very present within her role, and the company appreciate how quick and efficient Paragon Skills are to respond. Ragamuffins offer a range of level 2, 3 and 5 apprenticeships, following up with continuous personal development for each member of the team. The nursery currently have over 30 members of staff within different roles, undertaking apprenticeships with Paragon Skills; some of their senior staff and tam leaders begun as apprentices, who have been supported through career progression and given opportunities to develop and progress within the business.
The nursery support their apprentices meeting with their tutors face to face, once a month and every two weeks remotely. The nursery manager also attends regular updates with tutors about each apprentice and how they are managing their work, as well as where they may need more support. Ragamuffins provide excellent communication and transparency with their training provider, Paragon Skills – open communication ensures that together with Paragon Skills, they can meet every learners needs, allowing them to progress and achieve.
Ragamuffins Day Nursery are true advocates of apprenticeships; emphasising that apprentices are truly an important part of all staff who are qualified to help, develop and coach all staff to progress and achieve within their roles. With Ragamuffins and Paragon Skills working together, apprentices develop the skills and knowledge required in their job role to help and understand children, their development, how they work, identify their additional needs and the best way to support the children in their care.
