Who is the apprenticeship for?

This apprenticeship is ideal for employees that support and promote children and young people’s early education and development.

The aim of this qualification is to provide your team with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years.

What will they learn?

This apprenticeship will teach your Early Years Practitioner to demonstrate a knowledge of child development, health, and safety, safeguarding and the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Early Years Practitioners have a range of skills, such as communicating with children, parents, and their team, planning an assessment and supporting child-initiated and adult-led activities.

An Early years Practitioner works as part of a professional team ensuring the welfare and care for children under the guidance and supervision of an Early Years Educator, or other suitably qualified level 3+ professionals in the Early Years Workforce.

How will they learn?

Our Personal Tutors will deliver high-quality face-to-face learning and coaching and provide all the resources your employee will need to progress quickly. Our intuitive learner management system ‘Bud’ will really bring the subject to life through interactive learning tools, access to complementary online resources and relevant social communities, as well as provide real-time learner information so that you will always know what your employee is learning and how they are progressing.

This apprenticeship will develop your employees’ knowledge, skills and behaviours in the following areas:

  • Recognise when a child is in danger, at risk of serious harm or abuse and follow the settings procedures for safeguarding
  • Work with colleagues to identify & plan enabling environments, activities, play opportunities & educational programmes, adult led & child initiated to support children’s holistic development through a range of play, creativity, social development & learning
  • Promote health & wellbeing in settings by encouraging babies & young children, encouraging healthy eating & exercise
  • Implement & review activities to support children’s play, creativity, social development and learning and clear up after activities
  • Work with colleagues & parents to support the holistic development of children or babies
  • Use feedback, mentoring and/or supervision to identify and support areas for development, goals and career opportunities
