Family Learning Festival

This week is the start of the Family Learning Festival, a national celebration held every October, co-ordinated by the Campaign for Learning, to mark and inspire a love of learning in family life. This year, the Family Learning Festival runs from Saturday 14th October to Sunday 5th November. 

The Family Learning Festival is an annual celebration, encouraging families to come together and take part in shared educational experiences. This stand-out event offers a wide range of interactive activities, workshops, and events that cater to both children and adults. It highlights the importance of learning as a family, making it a fun and collaborative experience. 

Learning as a family can help children and adults alike to become confident, lifelong learners with all the benefits it brings – from better health to being happier and closer as a family. It helps children to develop essential skills and supports them to achieve at school. It helps adults to reconnect to learning and can be transformative for the whole family, helping us to find new passions and interests through further learning.  

This year’s theme aims to inspire a love of shared learning through curiosity. Curiosity is a natural desire to know about the world. It is an instinctual and essential part of life, linked to all areas of human development that involves learning, skill development or knowledge acquisition.  

Organisations of all types and sizes are getting involved; from schools and children centres, to libraries, museums and galleries. All putting on brilliant and creative events, showcasing ideas and learning opportunities that families can enjoy afterwards.
