A Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs Intermediate Level Apprenticeship is an investment in the skills you need to succeed in the Heavy Goods Industry. These skills include:
- Excellent practical skills
- The ability to work quickly with attention to detail
- The ability to work without supervision
- Good communication skills
- The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- A reasonable level of fitness and normal colour vision
The exact details of your job depend on your specific employer, but typically you can expect to work between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday – but these hours may differ depending on your chosen employer.
The duties of a heavy vehicle service technician may include:
- Servicing vehicles – carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturer’s guidelines
- Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components
- Advising the Service Receptionists about required repairs
- Producing time estimates
- Maintaining repair and service records
You’ll also learn:
- Ordering new parts
- Maintaining current heavy vehicle records
- Health and safety in the workplace
Your pathway to success
Once your Apprenticeship is completed, you could progress to the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs, or employment in the industry in a role such as a service technician.
