Who is the Apprenticeship for?
This Apprenticeship is ideal for any employees who work either as a Manager in Children’s Residential Care or as a Children, Young People and Families Manager in the community. They might work in a range of settings including local authorities, health organisations, educational and early years settings or children’s centres.
Your employees will be comfortable managing a team or service, confident working with professionals at all levels and effectively delivering on a wide range of outcomes.

What will they learn?
This Apprenticeship will provide your employees with a full range of skills, techniques and methods to manage people, develop relationships and deliver results.
It will equip your employees to build teams, manage resources and lead new approaches to working practices across their team, your organisation and wider partnerships that deliver improved outcomes whilst ensuring that the child, young person or family is at the centre of the service you and your team provide.
How will they learn?
Our Personal Tutors will deliver high-quality face-to-face learning and coaching and provide all the resources your employee will need to progress quickly. Our intuitive learner management system ‘Bud’ will really bring the subject to life through interactive learning tools, access to complementary online resources and relevant social communities, as well as provide real-time learner information so that you will always know what your employee is learning and how they are progressing.
This Apprenticeship will develop your employees’ knowledge, skills and behaviours in the following areas:
- Develops & delivers good quality supervision practice & decision making • Demonstrates evidence-based practice & models the effective use of up to date research & theories • Identifies & manages risk • Monitors, evaluates & improves the working environment to ensure it is safe • The quality assurance of health & social care in line with Ofsted, CQC & other regulatory bodies • The principles & practice of statutory frameworks, standards, guidance & codes of practice
- Manages the application of professional judgement, standards & codes of practice • Develops, facilitates & leads changes in working practices that deliver improved outcomes • Manages the quality assurance of the service provided & proposes improvements • The practice & principles of resource management • Manages & deploys total resource (e.g. people, finance, IT property) to maximise outcomes
- Care & respecting and valuing practitioners • Encouraging & enabling them to deliver excellent practice • Compassion & consideration & concern, combined with robust challenge & support • Courage & having honest conversations • Encouraging practitioners to offer their own solutions to improving practice
