Who is the Apprenticeship for?

This Apprenticeship is ideal for employees that work with children and young people across primary, secondary or special education settings.

These employees provide direct support to both teachers and pupils and are key in enhancing the learning experience and opportunities for all. They have good knowledge of the curriculum and are already adept at planning and evaluation.

Typical roles include:

Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant & Specialist Support Assistant.

What will they learn?

This Apprenticeship will ensure that your employees have all the skills they need to make a great contribution to every pupil’s development, well-being and self-belief. They will learn more about child development, theories and transitional stages and will apply their learning to accurately assess, provide feedback and motivate – both pupils, other support staff and themselves.

Our Apprenticeships give your employees training that is tailored to the needs of your setting and their roles, providing job-specific skills that promote collaborative working and increase engagement.

How will they learn?

Our Personal Tutors will deliver high-quality face-to-face learning and coaching and provide all the resources your employee will need to progress quickly. Our intuitive learner management system ‘Bud’ will really bring the subject to life through interactive learning tools, access to complementary online resources and relevant social communities, as well as provide real-time learner information so that you will always know what your employee is learning and how they are progressing.

This Apprenticeship will develop your employees’ knowledge, skills and behaviours in the following areas:

Becoming a qualified Teaching Assistant  is a skill for life and can open doors to a long and rewarding career. This qualification can lead to many job roles including teaching assistant, classroom assistant, additional needs assistant and team leader among others. In some schools, you can develop a specialism, such as literacy, numeracy, or special education.

Completing a Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard could lead to further opportunities, as the Teaching Assistant sector expands and increasing workforce numbers together with the age profile of the current workforce means that there will be an ongoing demand for learning support staff in schools.
