The Beauty Therapy Level 2 Apprenticeship is your first step towards working in the expanding beauty sector. You will gain practical work experience in a salon environment from the start. Whilst undertaking your training, you will:

Upon completion of this Apprenticeship, you will qualify with a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, as well as Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths & English. You will also have gained valuable work experience, solid references, and some great colleagues in the industry.

What you can expect from your Beauty Therapy Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship
There are approximately 4,800 beauty salons in the UK today, as well as around 5,800 hairdressing salons offering beauty therapy treatments. The industry has also enjoyed significant growth in recent years with an increase in independent nail salons and spa facilities. The industry offers excellent career prospects and to become a successful beauty therapist, the following skills and qualities are useful to have:

- A creative aptitude
- Patient and thoughtful
This Apprenticeship includes training in a number of mandatory and optional units which are designed to enhance your competencies across a range of beauty therapy specific skillsets. These include learning how to:
- Provide facial skin care treatment
- Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes
- Carry out waxing treatment
- Provide manicure services
- Provide pedicure services
- Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
- Promote additional products and services to clients
- Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
In addition to the above mandatory units, you will need to achieve a specific number of credits from a choice of optional units which include fulfilling salon reception duties, providing make-up services and assisting with spa operations.
Working hours vary and are dependent on your employer. Typically, these might be 9am to 5pm, including Saturdays and/or Sundays, plus some salons may offer evening appointments.
Your pathway to success
Once you have completed your Apprenticeship, you could progress onto a Beauty Therapy Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship or employment as a Junior Beauty Therapist.
A career as a beauty therapist is versatile and it offers many opportunities to work in a variety of locations such as spas, hotels, hospitals, care homes, cruise ships, holiday resorts and health clubs.
