Qualify with the Hair Professional - Barbering Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard

The Hair Professional Barbering Level 2 Apprenticeship is your first step towards starting a career as a junior barber. You will gain on-the-job practical experience and get to do the job straight away. On your Apprenticeship you will:

  • Work in a modern barbers environment
  • Learn from qualified barbers
  • Continually gain practical skills and experience
  • Earn a salary whilst you learn

Upon completion of this Apprenticeship, you will qualify with a Level 2 Diploma in Barbering, as well as Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths & English. You will also have gained valuable functional skills, solid references, some great colleagues in the industry and positive experiences.

What you can expect from your Barbering Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard

The Barbering Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard will teach you all the key skills required to be able to work as a Junior Barber. You will be undertaking your training in a professional working environment and will learn new skills from day one which include how to:

  • Cut hair using barbering techniques
  • Shampoo and condition hair
  • Style and finish men's hair
  • Undertake shaving services for men
  • Work with different hair types

Throughout your training, the Barbering Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard you will develop your knowledge skills and behaviour in the following areas:

The exact details of your job depend on your specific employer, but typically you can expect to work up to 40 hours a week, between the hours of 9am and 6pm. Most barbers open on Saturdays and offer an alternative day off in the week.

Your pathway to success

Once you have completed your Barbering Level 2 Apprenticeship, you will have gained all the basic barbering skills required to get recognised and progress in your chosen industry.

A career in barbering could give you the opportunity to work in a variety of locations, including department stores, cruise ships, hotels and holiday resorts.

The natural progression after you have completed this level is to take the Barbering Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship
