Who is the Apprenticeship for?

This Apprenticeship is ideal for any of your employees that provide healthcare support to adults in a range of healthcare settings.

These employees deliver essential care to every person whether they work in a person’s own home, residential or nursing home, or a clinical setting.

Typical roles that this Apprenticeship will support are:

Care Assistant, Care Worker, Personal Assistant, Shared Lives Carer, Support Worker, Mental Health Outreach Worker, Rehabilitation Worker & Housing Support Officer.

What will they learn?

This Apprenticeship has been designed to develop your employees’ existing skills and equip them with the expertise to offer first class care in line with your organisation’s culture.

Safety, wellbeing and protection will be at the heart of the inclusive and individualised support your employees will provide. They will learn the necessary planning skills to support not only the development of those in their care but their own personal development as well.

Our Apprenticeships will ensure that you have the best team to provide the best and most consistent care to every individual you support.

How will they learn?

Our Personal Tutors will deliver high-quality face-to-face learning and coaching and provide all the resources your employee will need to progress quickly. Our intuitive learner management system ‘Bud’ will really bring the subject to life through interactive learning tools, access to complementary online resources and relevant social communities, as well as provide real-time learner information so that you will always know what your employee is learning and how they are progressing.

This Apprenticeship will develop your employees’ knowledge, skills and behaviours in the following areas:

Mandatory units

  • Duty of care • Communicating in care settings • Responsibilities of a care worker • Handling information in care settings • Equality & inclusion in care settings • Personal development in care settings • Safeguarding & protection in care settings • Health, safety & wellbeing in care settings
    • Implementing person-centred approaches in care settings

Optional units

  • Supporting individuals to eat & drink • Meeting personal care needs • Moving & positioning individuals in accordance with their care plan • Supporting care plan activities • Providing support for therapy sessions

Your pathway to success

Once you have completed your Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard, the natural progression is to advance to the Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.

The Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship will develop your skills further and enhance your career prospects in the adult care sector.
