Start your career as an Adult Care Worker with the Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard

The Adult Care Worker level 2 Apprenticeship standard is ideally suited to individuals taking their first steps towards a career in the Health and Social Care Sector. 

Adult Care Workers are the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives. 

Job roles are varied and determined by and relevant to the type of the service being provided and the person supported. Adult Care Workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings. Job titles might include:

  • Care Assistant or Care Worker in a care home
  • Support Worker in a residential, supported living or private home setting
  • Key Worker in domiciliary and day services or Key Worker in Day Services
  • Learning Disability or Mental Health Support Worker
  • Mental Health Outreach Worker

The Paragon Skills Adult Care Apprenticeship standard typically takes 12 - 18 months to achieve and features:

  • City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Diploma in Care
  • City & Guilds Functional Skills in English and Maths (we will aim to support you achieve your level 2)
  • The Care Certificate
  • The 6 Cs – Care, Compassion, Courage, Communication, Competence and Commitment

What you can expect from your Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship

Whilst undertaking your Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship, you will be working with and learning from experienced health & social care workers, during which time you will be continually gaining valuable work experience, demonstrating your knowledge and skills and earning a salary whilst you learn.

Much of your learning will focus on the personal attributes and behaviours needed to become an Adult Care Worker – the 6Cs

  • Care - is caring consistently and enough about individuals to make a positive difference to their lives
  • Compassion - is delivering care and support with kindness, consideration, dignity and respect
  • Courage - is doing the right thing for people and speaking up if the individual they support is at risk
