Qualify with a Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Apprenticeship

The Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Apprenticeship standard will teach you everything you need to start your career in the diverse hospitality sector. Whilst undertaking your hospitality Apprenticeship, you could be working in a number of establishments including hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars and nightclubs, conference centres, holiday resorts or even for a contract caterer. Typical roles include:

  • Waiter
  • Housekeeper/room attendant 
  • Barista Bar person 
  • Receptionist 
  • Hospitality Services Assistant 
  • Conference & Event Organiser 
  • Food and Beverage Assistant

Upon successful completion of your Apprenticeship, you will qualify with a Level 2 Hospitality Apprenticeship in addition to Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English.

What you can expect from your Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Apprenticeship

This Apprenticeship you will develop your hospitality skills and knowledge to a high standard which includes learning how to recognise customer needs, knowing how to match them to the products and services of the business and working as part of a team to ensure that every customer, whether they are eating in a restaurant, drinking cocktails in a bar, ordering room service in a hotel or attending a business conference feels welcomed and looked after. A Hospitality Services Intermediate Level 3 Apprenticeship is an investment in the skills you need to succeed in the hospitality industry. 

All hospitality team members must have the following introductory knowledge:

  • Understand what hospitality means; the culture of the industry and why delivering a customer experience to meet and exceed customer’s expectations is so important to hospitality businesses.
  • Appreciate the importance of hospitality behaviours such as personal conduct, being adaptable, using initiative and communicating with a diverse range of people.
  • Know the range of businesses and establishments that make up the hospitality industry, their differences and similarities and the variety of job roles and progression opportunities that are available.

The exact details of your job depend on your specific role and organisation. Typically a career in the hospitality sector involves working varied shifts including evenings and weekends over an approximately 40-hour working week.


I've completed my NVQ in Hospitality and Housekeeping and am going on to do my Level 3 Team Leading. My assessor was great. Whenever I needed anything she was always there to help. 5 star!



Your pathway to success

Upon completion of your Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship, you will have gained significant experience in the sector, and you could be on your way to a supervisory role.

The next step is to take the Hospitality Team Member Level 3 Apprenticeship where you can develop your hospitality skills and knowledge at the same time as learning all you need to progress to a supervisory role.
