When you successfully complete your Team Leading Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship, you will qualify with a Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading, in addition to Level 1 functional skills in Maths and English.

What you can expect from your Team Leading Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship

An Apprenticeship is a valuable doorway of opportunity for learners and employees to progress in their industry. Team leaders and supervisors are required in all sectors and industries and this qualification will benefit anyone seeking to develop their leadership career.  

To succeed as a team leader, you will need to be focussed and confident, and the following skills and attributes will be of benefit to you: 

  • Good organisational skills
  • People skills
  • An understanding and tactful approach
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and methods
  • Organised and methodical
  • Ability to plan ahead

The exact details of your job depend on your specific employer, but typically you can expect to work between 35 and 40 hours a week between Monday and Friday, and also on the weekends in some industries. As a team leader or trainee supervisor, your role could include any of the following:

  • Monitoring work
  • Providing feedback
  • Briefing teams
  • Supporting team members
  • Problem-solving 
  • Project management 
  • Improving customer service

Since completing my Diploma in Customer Service I have been put on the progression plan to become a team leader. At present I'm the only person in my team with this qualification. My ambition is to become a team leader and then a manager.



Your pathway to success

Once you have completed your Apprenticeship, you could progress to employment in any industry in a role such as team-leader, section leader, floor manager, helpdesk manager, trainee supervisor and team co-ordinator among other roles. 

As a team leader you could work in a variety of organisations including small private companies, medium sized companies, large government departments, law firms, banks, insurance companies and many, many more.

Once you have completed your Level 2 Team Leading Apprenticeship, the natural progression is to take the Team Leader / Supervisor Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard. This will develop your skills and knowledge further and improve your career potential.

My ambition is to have a role in management so when my boss supported my request to do an NVQ in Team Leading, as part of an apprenticeship with Paragon Skills, I was determined to make the most of it. I picked units that were out of my comfort zone and now I have new responsibilities from my employer. I'm now doing my second qualification with Paragon and I'm looking forward to furthering myself in my career.
