How to find an apprenticeship

There are hundreds of apprenticeships in a wide range of different sectors and roles that you can choose from. You may already know exactly what career path you want to take, but equally, you may not have yet decided on the route you want to take.

When considering a career path, it is worth thinking about what your interests are, your skills and main strengths, and what keeps you motivated. Do some research into what’s available to you, what apprenticeship schemes are currently present within your area, what qualifications you’d like to achieve, and where you want to go in your career, before moving forward.

Build up your professional network online; LinkedIn is a great place to connect and engage with industry peers. Post on your social networks that you’re looking for an apprenticeship job. You never know who will see it!

How Do I Find the Right Apprenticeship For Me?

When looking for an apprenticeship, there are a couple factors that you may want to consider:

  • What experience will you gain from the role? This could be both professional experience and opportunities you may gain outside of work thanks to your role.
  • What is the career progression for this role? Does the natural progression of this role match your five-year plan?
  • Does this role match your personality type? Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, there is a role out there that you will be naturally suited to based on your mannerisms.
