Introducing our Paragon Skills Ambassadors – Hannah Chester

This week of introducing our apprenticeship ambassadors we meet Hannah Chester. Hannah works for channel 4 in and is in an early Careers apprenticeship. Read her great guest blog below:

Hi, I’m Hannah. I am an Early Careers Apprentice, working in the talent team. I help young people enter the media industry through apprenticeships, work experience, internships, and much more. It’s my passion to help other young people like myself to find their path after leaving school.

My apprenticeship with paragon skills.

I have been undergoing a Level 2 Recruitment Resourcer apprenticeship with paragon skills. I am now coming toward the end of my apprenticeship and I have enjoyed it very much. Throughout my apprenticeship it has allowed me to learn many aspects of recruitment and HR, I have learned about topics that I have never come across before it has really allowed me to broaden my knowledge. By learning so many topics I am now a lot more knowledgeable on how a business runs and how integral the HR team is to a business, all the knowledge I have learned in my apprenticeship studies I have been able to apply to my role at Channel 4.

My apprenticeship involves mainly self-study, I meet with my tutor at-least once or twice a month and we will discuss the work that I have set and the topics that it covers. She gives me resources that have information about the topics that I will then go and read to help me write my coursework. During my meeting with my tutor, we will also discuss different ways in which I could present my work to utilise my skill set.  The self-study and coursework give me the freedom to be creative with my work and allows me to use my skills to collate the resources and knowledge I need to complete all my coursework. My tutor is very helpful and is always around to support me whenever it is needed.

I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship with paragon skills, I feel as if it has given me confidence in my capabilities with prioritising workloads and studying independently. I have seen a clear progression throughout my year with them and have learned so much.

What it means to be an ambassador.

To be an ambassador and why I have chosen to become an ambassador is because it means representing and promoting a cause or a scheme you strongly believe in. I believe every school leaver and every person searching for their right career path should know about apprenticeships and the benefits of them. I believe apprenticeships are becoming more popular every year but they should always be considered as an option.

I want to help anybody who is looking into apprenticeships and give all the information they need about why is it a great option for their future. Using my own experience struggling with my next steps after leaving school and then eventually landing my apprenticeship I want to use that to help others.
