Apprentice Wins Company ‘Carer of the Year Award’
Paragon Skills apprenticeship learner wins company ‘Carer of the Year Award’
We are delighted to share the news that one of our fantastic Level 2 Care learners, Teodora Lorendana Love has been awarded with ‘Carer of the Year’ by her company Alcedo Care.
Alcedo Care are experts in the Homecare field and provide help and support with day-to-day care. They provide fully trained and experienced care staff to help give the best support to their clients in the comfort of their own homes.
Working in partnership with Alcedo Care, Teodora Loredana Love, signed up for her Level 2 Qualification with Paragon Skills through in August 2020 during the Covid 19 Pandemic, which was an extremely busy and stressful time for adult care workers.
Teodora works as a Domiciliary care worker in the community supporting vulnerable adults.
The role that Teodora does can on occasions be very demanding and she can work exceptionally long hours, working between the hours of 7am and 11pm as well as completing her studies and apprenticeship work for her diploma.
Paragon Skills Personal Tutor, Laura Barlow said: “Teodora never gave up her learning and strived to improve her performance, knowledge, and skills gained to help herself and team provide a high standard of care to those that needed it. She showed dedication and a willingness to succeed and learn, she passed her diploma in October 2021 and I am delighted to learn that she has more recently been awarded ‘Carer of the Year’ from her company, which is a great achievement.”
Having worked for Alcedo Care for just over a year, Theodora was absolutely delighted to have been recognised and rewarded for her hard work and dedication. The award looked at the attitude and skills displayed within her role at the same time as customer feedback.
Speaking about winning the award, Theodora said:
“It genuinely was a total surprise when I was awarded this award. I was shocked and very pleasantly surprised when my manager announced the award winner. I am very proud of myself. I am not someone who normally shows off or competes with colleagues to get ahead. With over 100 carers in the business, this really is a special honour for me.
I have come a really long way in terms of my confidence and my career since doing my apprenticeship. I always do what I can and communicate well with the families I work with, the office, and the nurses, and despite some really tough times over the past year or so, I try to remain positive as much as I possibly can. I work hard to encourage my clients as much as possible. In general, I work hard to build trust with my clients and am so happy that this has been recognised in the form of this award.
When I first started my care apprenticeship, I was so tired and exhausted with the work, but have really learned so much and grown in confidence. Laura’s encouragement and feedback really helped me to build my confidence, and I can genuinely say that I have grown and developed as a result of my care apprenticeship with Paragon Skills. As a result, my work has become easier and more manageable. My confidence in how to deal with the families has come a really long way. Looking back, I am so impressed with the journey I have been on since starting and completing my care apprenticeship. Laura was excellent and really encouraged me to succeed. As a result, I no longer feel exhausted from the job and the work and really love what I do.”
From everyone at Paragon Skills, we would like to congratulate Theodora on the completion of her care apprenticeship and on winning this award and what we believe is very well deserved recognition for her dedication and hard work.
