Paragon Skills joins the Moving On Up Network – Championing apprenticeship access for care experienced young people

At Paragon Skills, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive — and that no background should hold someone back from reaching their full potential. That’s why we’re proud to announce our membership in the Moving On Up network: a collaborative initiative dedicated to improving apprenticeship access and outcomes for care experienced young people.

Why Moving On Up Matters

Moving On Up brings together like-minded organisations across the apprenticeship sector with a shared mission — to break down barriers and build better futures for those who have experienced care. The network works alongside employers, providers, and government bodies to create real change through:

  • Tackling systemic barriers that prevent care experienced individuals from entering and completing apprenticeships
  • Increasing ring-fenced apprenticeship vacancies specifically for care experienced candidates
  • Promoting trauma- and attachment-informed practice within training delivery
  • Amplifying real stories from care experienced apprentices to inspire others

Through regular knowledge-sharing sessions, access to practical resources, and open discussion forums, Moving On Up gives organisations like ours the tools to drive meaningful impact.

Paragon Skills: Taking Action

Our decision to join the network is a continuation of our commitment to inclusivity, equity, and learner success. As a provider, we understand the vital role that comprehensive support plays in helping apprentices not only start but thrive in their programmes. By collaborating with the Moving On Up network, we’ll continue to refine our approach to meet the unique needs of care experienced learners — from recruitment and onboarding to programme delivery and pastoral support.

We’re particularly excited to join the upcoming online network events and to connect with other passionate professionals focused on creating positive change. With scheduled sessions across 2025, including on 12th June, 24th September, and 3rd December, the network is a hub of energy, innovation, and purpose.

What’s Next?

As part of the Moving On Up network, we’ll be working to:

  • Share best practices across our employer and provider partners
  • Encourage more businesses to create apprenticeship opportunities specifically for care experienced young people
  • Provide insight and influence to policy developments aimed at improving access and support

We’re also committed to listening and learning — especially from those with lived experience — so that we can continue to improve the way we deliver training, support, and outcomes.
