Paragon Skills Way of Leadership

Paragon Skills are committed to inspir Paragon way of leadership ing success and investing in the continuous development of our internal colleagues and line managers, so they can be their best self every day, lead our diverse teams to exhibit our pledge, and embody our values of the 5 E’s and last week, several of our managers met in Oxford to learn about the Paragon Way of Leadership.

This training was delivered by members of the People Team, in person for the first time in over 3 years and the passion, energy, and enthusiasm in the room was infectious. The session had a key theme throughout of being a great leader as opposed to a great manager with our mantra being “getting things done with and through others willingly and well.”

The Paragon Way of Leadership training focused on the different leadership styles and how this has changed through the millennium and the shift to the current remote world, and how we need to adapt our style to suit the needs of our colleagues. All the delegates on PWOL came with a different level of leadership experience, and with a mixture of newer and more established colleagues, so this was a real opportunity for sharing of best practices, experiences, and allowing us all to evaluate our own leadership style and recognise how to be a Paragon Skills Leader.

We had a mixture of group activities, pair working and even a role play and looked at preparing for success, elephant thinking that “A belief you have based on past experience, that limited your current and future experiences” and how we can challenge that type of thinking in ourselves and our colleagues, what winner and loser behaviours are, the benefit of peak performance and the relationship triangle.

The key elements and knowledge taken from this training will allow us to be effective leaders as we can emulate this to encourage a unique and positive culture and continue to deliver an award-winning service. The Paragon Way of Leadership was a fantastic, energetic, and informative day and below are some pictures of the day and what the delegates had to say about it.

“A fantastic day, working with people across the business in a face-to-face training session, I have definitely gained new skills and knowledge following the training”

“Such an amazing day!”

“What an amazing day and opportunity to develop ourselves as leaders.”

“The session gave me a great opportunity to reflect on my own leadership and really understand what works best for my team.”

“I really enjoyed watching the scenarios play out in the group. It helped me see how my leadership styles may be seen differently from the others. I also enjoyed thinking about the relationship triangle and how I want to build on this with certain colleagues or departments within Paragon.”

“It was nice to do things in person, and the main thing I benefitted from the training was being able to reflect on how we lead and assess how well we’ve been doing especially as I was new to management and my team grew very quickly.”
