Peer Worker – Level 3 apprenticeship

Peer Workers support individuals to build skills through modelling, signposting, and self-advocacy. They work directly with individuals, enabling them to find their own ways of understanding their circumstances in order to move forward.

We are committed to providing a unique, learner-responsive apprenticeship programme, that will be accessible nationally. We have developed this programme with a collaborative, consultative approach working very closely in collaboration with With-you Consultancy.

With-you, as a national provider specialising in peer support with over 12 years of experience, will be advising on the course design, as well as training tutors; working with Paragon Skills and providing industry expertise to develop the programme. Their core values are underpinned by the values of peer support including shared learning and co-production. Who is this apprenticeship suitable for?

Creating a safe and trusting space provides for an honest and open dialogue in which different experiences can be shared and different ways of understanding can be considered. Using knowledge from their own lived experiences of challenges, accessing support and navigating a range of services, a Peer Worker can provide purposeful and safe disclosure of their personal experiences to share and model self-help and self-management skills.

What will you learn on the apprenticeship?

As an apprentice studying Peer Support Worker Level 3, you will learn how best to support individuals across all age groups who may be experiencing:

  • severe mental distress
  • mental health crises
  • perinatal mental health difficulties
  • long term conditions
  • addiction problems
  • problem gambling
  • rough sleeping.

You will focus on topics such as self-reflection and self-care and hone in your skillset to be able to draw off your own experiences to help these individuals. You’ll be given the tools to create a safe and trusting space for these individuals to help make a positive difference in their lives.
