Raising Voices and Opportunities: Social Mobility Day 2023 and the Power of Apprenticeships
Social Mobility Day is an annual awareness day in the UK, this year being held on Thursday 15th June 2023.
This year, the main theme is “#SpeakMore” aiming to encourage others to talk about social mobility and add their voice to the conversation; whether that is to ask questions, share personal stories or simply spread the word about social mobility.
Social Mobility Day is about raising awareness of social mobility in the UK, helping others to understand and encouraging action to create positive change. It is an issue that is not yet widely understood; an awareness day like this provides the opportunity to inform and educate about the need to put social mobility, equality and inclusion, bringing the issue to everyone’s attention.
It is about making sure that the circumstances of a person’s birth, do not determine their outcomes in life. It is about inclusion, equality and opportunity for all. Building a culture where anyone can achieve their potential, no matter where their story started.
It creates a more fair society where opportunities are available to everyone, opening doors to a more diverse workforce with a variety of views and lived experiences.
