Little Steps is a small family orientated independent day nursery located in St Albans a short distance from local shops and 15 minutes’ walk from the train station and excellent transport links. The team is growing and an Apprentice position available studying towards Early Years Educator Level 3.

Job Description

Our dedicated team who possess a wide range of experience in child care, have a strong commitment to providing a high quality of care and education for up to 50 children aged from 9 months to rising 5 years old. Our ethos reflects the importance of creating a home for home environment for the children in our care, where children have a voice, learn to be confident and resilient learners, with an awareness of the word around them and the important role they play within it.

Our aim is to provide a secure and fun environment for all the children in our care where parents/carers/students feel welcome and can contribute to the well-being and education of the children. We have a firm belief in the benefits of apprenticeships and the importance of providing a positive learning environment in which apprentices can reach their goals. We have already successfully supported many apprentices who have gone on to gain qualifications and careers within the early years sector.

Responsibilities

  • Work carefully within the settings guidelines to ensure all interactive areas are clean, safe and well maintained
  • Report all accidents, safety hazards, observations of children being unwell or at risk of harm to a senior member of staff.
  • Develop good understanding of this importance of teaching children the Fundamental British Values and to appreciate the importance of being part of a team in providing a curriculum that actively strives to promote positive awareness in each child of their place in our diverse and multicultural world.
  • To be flexible with working hours to ensure the correct child/adult ratios. 
  • To attend regular meetings and other training necessary by the Principal.
  • Keep up to date with any changes to the setting policies and procedures.
  • Follow the settings guidelines with regard to confidentiality.

Training

This involves regular catch-ups, check-in emails and calls. Your employer will agree to give you 20% of your working hours solely towards your study.
